Video Games: The Movie

1. What are some of the reasons video games were successful? What makes a game popular?

I think video games were successful because many of the people around the world, still play with video games up until now and some of them were already devoted to play games. it was also successful because, up until now, people always return to video games even when consoles experience several down years, sometime four or five in a row. I think, the graphics, capacity, the content or story makes the game popular, but sometimes, graphics aren't really big deal to others as long as the story and how it works are cool. 

2. What are some of the reasons why the video game industry crashed in the 1980s?

In the early 80’s, the video game market was flooded with consoles and poorly made games. The crashed represents a significant turning point in the video game industry and brought about many changes.

3. Do you think video games are a form of art? Why or why not?

I think, yes it was like form of art. Because we are also creating something out of digital space and I believe that video games are collision of art and science. They include many forms like sculpture in a form of 3D modelling, narrative arcs, and dynamic music. 

4. What is the next evolution in video games? What are the challenges that need to be solved in the next generation of games?

I think the next evolution in video games would be very fascinating. Eventually we'll have 3d televisions without glasses. Since the 3DS has challenges: it does make you dizzy if you play over an hour, and it also has not much of a viewing angle, but having said that, if they can make a television that allows a viewing angle and does not give you this feeling of vertigo, I think that'd be a pretty fantastic experience. Not just for viewing television, but for playing games. And also, people down the line experimenting with holographic gaming; I hope to see something like that eventually. I don't know if I'll live to see it, but I think that's a really fascinating idea.
