Game Designer Skills
3 skills from Jesse's list that I feel I would be best at. Explaining your experience in each area and how you think you could apply your knowledge to game design/production.
One of the skills I think I'm best at is the cinematography. I actually take Video production and it usually focus in filming events, different cameras and editing the clips and videos after. Like cinematography, you can make your own game and achieve a type of "realism" and mimicking how something appears through the lens of the camera. By using cinematography, you can also make your own Game Trailers that include some visual effects and animation in editing. Most of the game trailers are sometime dramatic and cinematic in order to vaguely promise the viewers that the game-play itself will be incredibly cinematic.Second skill that I think I'm also best at is the Animation. I used Blender before in modelling a character but I haven't animated it because it was kinda hard for me since I just started using the program and It's kinda challenging. I think Animation brings a lot of visual and bounciness in a game-play or video games. The other tool is using limited strong and extreme key frames. A lot of older sprite-based game have only one or two frames but they still work and hold up well. An example of the is the Pocket Fighter - Super Gem Fighter that only uses couple of frames, pulling out weapons and changing looks.
Lastly is the Visual Art. Of course, video games would not be so interesting if the visual and graphics are poor. I actually also take Media arts and we usually edit stuff in After Effects. Im not the pro in using the program but also involve visuals, motion graphics, compositing applications, keying, tracking and animation. Visual art in game design can be more interesting if we know how to use it properly without TOO much descriptive visuals. Using visual arts can create more feelings and emotion to the game-play. It actually brings the player and the game closer together to get involved and to express ones emotion through graphic motions.
